In Play

What's in play? - Issues in town or our district that I believe need to be addressed. See my September 2007 op-ed piece about some of these, old but still relevant.
  1. RTM to Review P&Z Decision to modify the Historic Design District, aka the Inn at National Hall properties. The Town Code allows residents to appeal P&Z decisions on Text Amendments and Map Changes to the RTM. Residents have requested this of the recent decision to allow lights on Town Owned Fields.

The RTM P&Z Committee, of which I am the chair, will hold initial meetings on the subject and then recommend a course of action for the full RTM to take. This is an important issue for the town and your input is paramount. Come out to the hearings and let the RTM know what you think.

RTM P&Z Committee meetings: Jan 4, auditorium 7:450
Jan 6, (if needed for more public input)

Jna 13, Full RTM special meeting.

To allow you to read up on the issue I have put many of related documents on this site. click here to read the minutes and reports and watch the hearings.

  2. Norden

After being denied by Norwalk's Conservation Commission the 378 unit, 3 appartment building project is back, but much smaller. It now has only one building with 240 units, and near the border with Westport only 4 single family houses. And now in the middle, 11 acres of dedicated open space. This change in design is directly related to the opposition and attendance at hearings in Norwalk 4 years ago. Nice job everyone. This was approved by Norwalk in November.

  3. Hiawatha / Old Saugatuck

The threat of 55 condo units is still very much alive as none of the houses were sold and the recent Norden decision to build allows for a sewer to come close to the back side of these properties. We must monitor this very carefully.
